Things kids say

"What's this word?"
"Look!"
"How do you spell it? What are the letters?"
"L-o-o-cake!"
"What's this letter?"
"cake"
"k"
"cake"
"k"
"cake"

An absolutely hilarious conversation that repeats itself once a week right now with one of my 3 year olds...I tend to be in fits of giggles the entire time.  We've just gotten into reading anything and when we do phonics/alphabet stuff with the whole group for the last few months, I wasn't aware of her K/Cake issues.  It's so cute you don't want her to correct herself (but ultimately, you know she'll eventually correct herself)
I've also learned that Rob and frog are quite similar sounding, I have all kinds of problems with lasagne (not the 3 year old class on that one), and that my little ones who've been in my class for 6 months are pretty cute when they correct the ones who've only been in it for less than a month (we'v got some new kids).
Astin (new) "blah blah blah in Chinese"
Rebecca (old) listens to him, looks at him and goes  "Say 'I'm finished!'"
Common occurrence.  Kids are super smart.  All of them.

It finally stopped raining on Friday and as I'm leaving one of the girls from my 8 and 9 year old class who is sitting next to me as I change into my boots looks at me astounded "Aren't you cold???" I'm wearing pants, 2 tank tops and a t-shirt type thing over those with my jacket on my arm.  She is wearing a puffy winter coat over 2 other layers, pants and a fleece scarf.  It is 26 degrees out (80 F). I just laugh and give her a "No" and "Don't worry, I have my jacket".  The take on what you should be wearing in what weather is hilarious.

It is still strawberry season here.  hehehe.  It makes me happy!  What does not make me happy is having to move in a month- both the act of moving and the searching part.  Plus, I really like both my apartment and my neighborhood, so it's going to be sad.  For all my travels and lives, I don't particularly care for the actual packing and moving though I do a good 'spring cleaning' and 'clutter removal' a lot more than most people because of it!  You'd be amazed what you acquire in the course of just a month or 6 or a year.
